REORGANISATION OF THE RANGOON UNIVERSITY (1946)

On 30th October 1941, Mr. A. Campbell (the then Lt.Col.) who was reconstruction officer (education) submitted a note to Simala Runaway British Government of Burma on "Reconstruction of the Education System in Burma including University Education". He pointed out the weaknesses of the “ Federal nature of the University ” and made suggestions to redesign the University as a "Unitary University". His suggestions were examined by a committee consisting of Sir Htoon Aung Gyaw (Chairman), U Tin Tut, Lt., Col.

L. Htin Si, Daw Mya Sein, Mr. A.E. Mclean, Col. L.M.Treston, M.M.J. Sheehy, Mr. F.D.Odell, U Aye Maung (I), Lt.Col. A Campbell, M.R.E. Mcguire and U Kyaw Than (Secretry).
The Committee after due deliberation accepted substantially the proposals made by Lt. Col. A. Campbell.
