As such, First Medical Education Seminar was conducted in 1964 and proposed to introduce appropriate post-graduate courses of Diploma and Master of Sciences in the professional fields needed by the country. Accordingly, the following Postgraduate courses were started in Institute of Medicine 1. 

Diploma in Anaesthesia (D.A.) 1964 #Diploma in Clinical Pathology (D.C.P.) 1965
Diploma in Preventive & Tropical Medicine (D.P.T.M.) 1966

To supervise the postgraduate courses, the Dean of Postgraduate Medical Studies was appointed in 1967 by the Directorate of Higher Education, Ministry of Education. He was accountable to the Rector of the Institute of Medicine ( 1 ). Professor Khin Maung Win was the first person appointed as the Dean of Postgraduate Medical Studies. The following post-graduate courses were then introduced in the Institute of Medicine ( 1 ).
