 POST GRADUATE SCHOOLS

To run some post graduated courses, five postgraduate schools namely – School of Child Health, School of Radio-diagnosis, School of Ophthalmology, School of Oto-rhinolaryngology and School of Public Health were created under the Department of Medical Education. Technically, all postgraduate courses were run under the Institute of Medicine(1 ) and the Diploma and Degrees were granted by the Rector. The following post-graduate courses were subsequently introduced in the Institute of Medicine (1).

In 1977, it is decided to call Master Courses in Medical Sciences as Master of Medical Science ( M.Med.Sc.) against Master of Sciences ( M.Sc.)

Following the Fourth Medical Education Seminar in 1978, the following post graduate Courses were introduced in the Institute of Medicine ( 1 )

Master of Medical Science in Public Health 1982

From 1st. November 1984, all the five schools were incorporated into the Institute of Medicine (1) and all postgraduate courses were directly under the control of Rector, Institute of Medicine (1). Subsequently, each Medical Institute runs their own postgraduate courses. However, the Department of Medical Sciences does the co-ordination of all undergraduate and postgraduate courses. All matters related to the production and training of human resources for Health are managed and coordinated by the Department of Medical Sciences. Subsequently, the following post-graduate courses were introduced in the Institute of Medicine ( 1 ).
